Reduced parking at Seven Sisters
Due to essential infrastructure work in the north car park that is expected to continue for 2 – 3 months, there will be less parking available during busy times. Alternative car parking is available in our south car park and the nearby Friston Forest car park.
Alternatively, please consider using public transport to visit Seven Sisters Country Park.
What work is taking place at the country park?
A new sewage treatment facility is being installed on site to improve the functioning of the visitor toilets and reduce the occasional odour found when the current infrastructure is at capacity.
The country park attracts up to one million visitors a year, so these works are essential and part of the SDNPA’s ongoing work to improve the visitor experience at Seven Sisters Country Park.
Why is the work necessary?
The current infrastructure is old and unable to cope with the busy demand of our visitor toilets, so investing in a new on-site sewage treatment facility will improve the visitor experience.
Who is carrying out the work?
SDNPA working with contractors Edburton.
When does the work start and finish?
The work started on 8 May and will continue for approximately six to eight weeks.
Will there be any impact of the work on visiting the country park?
The focus of the work will be in the north car park, with a reduction of parking capacity which may lead to less car parking availability at busy times. Alternative parking is available in the south car park and the nearby Friston Forest car park.
Especially at busy times, alternative travel via the 12, 12A, 12X bus routes between Brighton and Eastbourne and the weekend Arts Shuttle Bus between Lewes and Eastbourne may provide better options to visit the site.
If our car parks are full, please do not park on the grass verges as this causes safety concerns for other road users and local residents.
During the installation works on-site toilet facilities will not be impacted.
